Walmart Contacts Transition FAQs

What happened to 1-800 Contacts?

Walmart and 1-800 Contacts mutually decided to end our business relationship effective January 1, 2013. Our customers trust us to provide a broad assortment of products at everyday low prices, and we approach every business decision through this lens.

Does Walmart still sell contacts?

Yes, at even lower every day prices online, by phone, and in the store. Walmart Vision Centers have sold contact lenses for many years. We expanded our services in 2009 to include online offerings for your convenience. No other retailer can offer the convenience of shopping online backed by the associates at your local Walmart Vision Center.

Can I use my Walmart.com or 1-800 Contacts account to buy contacts online?

You will need to create a new contact lens account on walmartcontacts.com. Signing up is easy. Your 1-800 Contacts account is active for ordering from 1-800 Contacts only.

Who has my order history?

Your Walmart Vision Center has the record of your in store purchases of your contacts and eye wear.

How do I purchase contacts from Walmart?

There are three easy ways to order contacts:

  1. Online at walmartcontacts.com
  2. By Phone - Dial 1-800-741-LENS (5367)
  3. In a Walmart Vision Center

Can I place an order online and have it shipped to a Walmart store?

At this time, you can order online and have the order shipped directly to your home. If you prefer to pick up at the store, visit the Walmart Vision Center, and they can place the order for you in just a few minutes.

Can I place an order online and pay with cash in a Walmart store?

If you would like to pay with cash, please visit your Walmart store to place an order with one of our associates.

Can I place an order online and have it shipped to my home?

Absolutely. We will ship the order directly to your door. For orders over $50, shipping is free!

Do I need a current prescription from my eye doctor to order contacts?

Yes. You need a current prescription from your eye doctor to order contact lenses. We can get your prescription information in one of two ways:

  1. You can provide us with a copy of your written prescription from your eye doctor, or
  2. We can confirm your prescription information directly with your eye doctor.

How do I order if I don't have a copy of my prescription?

If you don't have a copy of your prescription, we can confirm your prescription directly with your eye doctor before processing your contact lens order.

You will need to provide us with your doctor's name and information about your contact lenses that can be found on your contact lens box.

Your contact lens box includes your brand name and contact lens parameters. We will then confirm the prescription with your eye doctor directly.

Where can I get an eye exam? Can I get an exam at a Walmart Vision Center?

We encourage you and your family members to receive regular eye exams. You can get an exam from an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist. There are independent doctors of Optometry that practice next to many of our Walmart Vision Centers and throughout your community.

Can I use my vision insurance for contacts?

If you would like to use insurance please visit your Walmart store to place an order with one of our associates. We can take insurance in store and have the products shipped directly to a store or your home.

Can I use a Walmart gift card to purchase contacts online?

Not at this time. You can use a gift card in the store to purchase contacts.

Can I get reminders when it's time to reorder contacts?

Yes, you can set up reminders when you place your order online.

If I need my contacts fast, can I get express delivery?

Yes, for just a small fee, we can ship your orders to you fast.

What guarantee does Walmart provide on contact lens purchases?

We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all orders. We will exchange unopened boxes of previously purchased contact lenses if your prescription changes and we will also replace torn contact lenses within the manufacturers' recommended time frame.
